After my class (and after taking a 2-hour nap), I went to Barnes & Nobles to get some studying done. I've never been a fan of studying at home because there's so many distractions, and studying at a library really isn't my cup of tea either. Went I got to the patio, a lot of the "regulars" that I saw last semester were there, and surprisingly they recognized my face and wondered why they hadn't seen me in a while. After small talk, I got lost in my own world, engulfed in my Criminal Justice textbook. I decided to take a quick break 2 hours later, and one of the regulars- Monroe, a 65-year old man from Atlanta- sparked conversation with me. After talking about this that and this, an announcement was made over the Barnes & Nobles intercom, notifying customers that they were closing in 30 minutes. Small talk turned into a 3-hour discussion, and I really enjoyed it.
Not to mention, tomorrow he plans on giving me his wife's business card. I told him about how I was going to school for Women's Studies, thinking about becoming a social worker or a teacher. He then told me how his wife works for DoDDs, so I should keep in touch with her just in case I actually do decide on becoming a teacher.
I used to be a Borders regular, but I'm changing my loyalties.
